Frequently Asked Questions

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. We are closed on Saturday and Sunday.

What is the turnaround time for film processing?

C-41 and black and white film processing runs on a Tuesday and Thursday schedule. Walk-in by 9am, out after 4pm on processing days. E6 slide processing is also available — contact us for current scheduling.

What file formats do you accept for digital printing?

We accept JPEG, TIFF, and PNG files. For the best results, we recommend TIFF or high-quality JPEG files at 300 DPI at the desired print size. Our technicians can advise on optimal file resolution for your specific project.

What is the difference between giclée prints and photographic prints?

Giclée prints use pigmented inks (we use Epson Archival Ultrachrome inks on 44-inch Epson printers) on fine art papers or canvas, offering superior archival longevity and a wide range of substrates. Photographic prints use chemical processes on photographic paper, producing continuous tone output. Both deliver exceptional quality — the best choice depends on your intended use and presentation.

Can I mail in my film or digital media for processing?

Yes. We accept mail-in orders from customers throughout the country. Visit our Shipping & Order Form page for complete instructions, packaging guidelines, and our order form.

Do you offer push and pull processing for black and white film?

Yes. Our black and white film processing uses Ilford chemistry with dip and dunk processors, and we offer push and pull processing for photographers who need to adjust their film speed.

What chemistry do you use for film processing?

We use Fuji Hunt chemistry for C-41 processing and Ilford chemistry for black and white processing. Both are processed using professional dip and dunk processors for consistent, high-quality results.

Do you still offer Chromira prints?

Chromira printing has been discontinued. This service has been replaced by our giclée printing process, which uses 44-inch Epson printers with Epson Archival Ultrachrome pigmented inks. Giclée prints offer superior archival longevity and a wider color gamut than the previous Chromira process.

What types of metal prints do you offer?

We produce dye sublimation metal prints on coated aluminum sheets. Images are printed on a high-resolution transfer medium and permanently bonded to the aluminum with fine art print-maker care. Metal prints are vibrant, durable, waterproof, and scratch-resistant.

What is Diasec face mounting?

Diasec is a Swiss-developed process that bonds photographs directly and permanently to acrylic sheet. We offer three finishes: High Gloss, Anti-Reflective, and TruLife. It creates an extraordinary depth and luminous quality favored by galleries and collectors worldwide.

Do you offer canvas stretching?

Yes. We offer gallery wrap and traditional canvas stretching for giclée prints on canvas. Call for a personalized quote — pricing depends on size and stretching method.

Can I order prints online?

Yes. Denver Digital Online is our internet-based platform where you can upload, view, share, organize, edit, enhance, and order prints. For the highest quality and personalized color matching, we recommend visiting our studio in person.

What is drum scanning?

Drum scanning is a premium scanning method that captures exceptional detail and tonal range from film and artwork. Our Custom Pro high-resolution drum scanning is the gold standard for professional reproduction, gallery exhibitions, and archival projects.
